MMT UPDATE:--From Toby

We have had two REALLY long nights. One by accident, and one by design. So everyone has been really tired and we've not been able to update our trip info. We are doing well and had an awesome first day of work. I'm hoping to get some more from the kids tomorrow as well as some photos and maybe video. Looking forward to sharing our experiences with you!

Jake Wallace—Day 1

So....this is my fourth year on Mystery Mission Trip (Iron Hammer--ya’ll can be jealous) As we are pulling away from the church, in my mind, I was expecting Toby’s usual method of getting to our destination--going the complete opposite direction and driving the most random crazy routes. So if you have been on or heard of the mission trips from the past years then you would have been in as much shock as I was when we got to Birmingham and didn’t turn 90 degrees in either direction, but instead we kept going South. I was in even more shocked when we started to head….WEST! (MMT first!) We ate lunch at some mall, I wish I could tell you I remembered what city but I can’t! Sorry! One interesting thing about the stop at the mall was our very own Mac Hendrix, John Roberts, and Greg Douthit set up Toby with a funny prank. Toby was snacking on some Reese’s pieces and they decided to put a hermit crab in the mix with all the pieces. Well.. Toby found it and might have peed his pants, I’m not sure. The truck and all four vans blocked an exit ramp while Toby and Greg disposed of the poor hermit crab. We stopped at the Agricultural and Forestry Museum of Mississippi. I honestly thought that it would be the most BORING stop, but instead it was kinda interesting and I even got an old fashion root beer in a bottle. There was a wedding going on at the museum, I’m not really sure what made them want to get married there, but I’m sure it was nice? Hahaha. We had a nice ride after that, and I took a nap and when I woke up I found myself in the state of Louisiana, in a town called Ruston. We are staying at Trinity Methodist Church. The youth rooms are AMAZING here! I really wish we had something like them at our church. We should figure out a way to do something like this for our students. For dinner, we had Ryan’s buffet, some people really enjoyed the all you can eat ice cream! We had great worship, I love praising God! Toby gave us an encouraging lesson about how we are not here for me, myself, and I, but that we came on this mission trip to serve others and give glory to God. I think we should take that same message and apply it to our everyday life and everything we do, not just when we are on a mission trip or at church, like the word tells us, we should strive and long to be like CHRIST!

Sweet dreams, your brother in Christ
